A Poignant Reminder of Ever Present Tragedy

The case of 11 year old, Ashton Jojo, is a very poignant reminder of ever present tragedy in our world.  When I heard the news (link to news story below, at bottom) of this young girl’s needless death, it broke my heart.  Yes, we all know that in a world of 7 billion people terrible tragedies and losses of life are occurring every second of every day.  This is no exaggeration.  But, nevertheless, when one hears of the specific details of a particular, individual instance of such a terrible event, it removes such tragedy from the realm of the abstract and makes it more concrete, more real for us, and more painful and sorrowful.

The cruel hand of death has struck down a young girl.  We can only guess what positive impact and contributions she might have made to those around her as she lived a long, full life.  We can only mourn the loss of a young life that had potential and value.

Please join me in praying that Ashton is in a better world now.  Thank you.
