a Christmas wish

a Christmas wish

Greetings everyone!

As some people will be travelling this weekend for the holiday, and others will be busy with last minute shopping, wrapping gifts, and cooking in the days ahead, we are sending out our Christmas essay early so readers have a chance to see it prior to Christmas Day.

Let us recall the words of a song by Earth, Wind and Fire, who gave us such hits as September and Shining Star among others.

From their 1975 hit, That’s The Way of The World, we ponder these words:

We’ve come together on this special day

To sing our message loud and clear

Looking back we’ve touched on sorrowful days

Future pass, they disappear

You will find peace of mind

If you look way down in your heart and soul

Don’t hesitate ‘cause the world seems cold

Stay young at heart ‘cause you’re never, never old at heart

Beautiful words.

It it true that the soul is eternally youthful as it never grows old!  The body can be destroyed, but the soul cannot be.

Our wish is for everyone to have a love filled and happy holiday season.  We do not – and must not – forget those who are without loved ones over the holidays, and may be alone on Christmas Day.  Know that you are in our prayers and our thoughts.  And, as the song so beautifully informs us, “you will find peace of mind, if you look way down in your heart and soul.”  On Christmas Day, some kind hearted souls go to the hospitals and the hospices and the various shelters to visit with the suffering and often lonely people there.  There are lonely and perhaps forgotten people in our neighborhoods.  We cannot forget our brothers and sisters.  As well, loving couples open their hearts and their homes to foster children (who may never have known being loved).

It is there deep inside you.  Find that priceless pearl of peace and love, and share it with others!  This world is so desperately short of love.  Let’s try to add some love to the mix.

Here is an image from an earlier essay.  It is a beautiful painting.  The artist really captured something.  Our Lady of Good Remedy.  Larger images of this painting are in our earlier essay (see link below).

Best wishes to all this holiday season!  Spread the love and the joy!
