the economy of life: energy from death

The cruel, distasteful fact is that physical or bodily death is the natural end for all life in this world.

We had considered “animals suffer, too” for the title of this essay.

Here we see part of an exhibit which tells us that dead animal carcasses are recycled by carnivorous scavengers.

The progress the beetles have made over time is shown in this next image.

We are reminded here of the temporary nature of life in this world and that even lower orders of life do suffer and die.  But, per the rules of the game, that is necessary for other animals and insects to live.
