Earlier this month, we walked over to the California Academy of Sciences. It is within walking distance from our home. We took these pictures there and share them now.
This picture shows a species of cat, the Pampas cat (Bolivia). Note that this exhibit is a picture, not a “stuffed” animal. So, we are seeing a picture of a picture.
Another view of this rare cat.
A painting of a larger species from the cat family. (We love our pet house cat, and are intrigued by other cats.)
A painting of pelicans.
A visitor poses by the painting.
A painting of a dust-covered rhinoceros on a desiccated landscape.
A colorful image.
A close-up shot of the previous image. Surreal?
This was a photograph of an ice cave within a glacier.
The Academy has an aquarium (Steinhart Aquarium) on the lowest level with many live exhibits.
Fish, starfish, etc.
A colorful live exhibit.
A view a moment later as the fish have moved around within their environment.
Another exhibit.
A solitary star fish perhaps under special lighting.
