On our holiday to Arizona last week, we stayed at a motel in Sedona and saw these images on the concrete curbs in the parking areas. This looks to be a variation of a swastika, a symbol known to many cultures and often used to signify the sun.
When the motel manager saw me photographing these curbs, he said these were a common motif in the art of the southwest.
Sadly, any artistic rendering of a symbol that is similar to a swastika, or is a variation of a swastika prompts thoughts of anti-Semitic intent in the minds of some persons.
We must stop seeing “anti-Semitism” everywhere, or in everything. If these images offend you, deal with it.
This last pic is the most colorful.

Reblogged this on PRECES FUNDE, VERBERA TE IPSUM, VELLICA TESTICULOS TUOS, LACRIMAS MOVE, IMPLORA DEOS TUOS (ex libris Bonconte Montefeltro et alii).
We also have to remember the swastika was already an often used symbol before the Nazi regime, nothing to do with anti-semitism.
Good point. Thanks for commenting.
