These photos were taken at the Cuivres D’Art Albert Gilles (copper art museum) near Quebec City.  We’re not sure but these works could be examples of the Repoussé or repoussage technique of metalworking.  These are done quite well – take a look for yourself.

This first image shows a beautiful example of this metalworking art.  Saint Joseph and the child, Jesus are featured.  The eye-catching aura and halo effect achieved here is remarkable.

St. Anne is depicted here with Christ as child.  St. Anne de Beaupre is a nearby village with a basilica shrine in St. Anne’s honor that is also a place of pilgrimage with many associated cures (healing) of lameness (inability to walk without support).  We see rather intricate detail in the metal in this piece.

A crucifix of metal.

This next work appears to be that of Jesus with the Sacred Heart depicted.  Again, we are struck by the artistry and the craftsmanship of this metalworking.

A final image is of an angel in metal.  A beautiful piece.  (We are not sure if the indicated price is in Canadian dollars or US dollars.)

We thank our travelling blog photographer (Lucy) for sending her work in today.
